Essi Luttinen pursued her vocal studies at the Turku Conservatoire and as a pupil of Marjut Hannula at the Sibelius Academy. She further studied at the Royal College of Music in London (2002-2004) and was a soloist at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School for the 2003-2004 academic year. Essi Luttinen has appeared with many of the Finnish orchestras and choirs as well as the RCM Baroque Orchestra, the London Haendel Orchestra, the Anton Bruckner Orchestra in London and the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, with conductors Laurence Cummings, Peter Stark and Peter Schreier. In 2004 she was one of the ten finalists in the international Competizione dell’Opera in Dresden. She came first in the Merikanto Singing Competition in summer 2005 and won the Second Prize at the Lappeenranta Singing Competition in 2006. Ms. Luttinen’s performed repertoire includes asuch roles as Sextus/La clemenza di Tito, Cherubino/The Marriage of Figaro and Dorabella/Così fan tutte. Her engagements since 2005 have included Karla/Messenius and Lucia (Kortekangas) in Oulu, Second Lady/The Magic Flute and Isän tyttö (2007) at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Nerone/Agrippina as well as the title role of Sosarme at the London Handel Festival and Mercedes/Carmen (2007) at the Finnish National Opera. |
