Niina Keitel, mezzo
After graduating from Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finnish mezzo-soprano Niina Keitel started her professional career as a member of the soloist ensemble of Staatstheater Darmstadt, where her roles included Hansel, Maddalena and Magdalene.
She continued as a member of the ensemble at Nationaltheater Mannheim, where she sang Olga in new production of Eugene Onegin with Dan Ettinger, Berta / Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Lola / Cavalleria Rusticana, Hansel / Hansel and Gretel and Mercedes / Carmen.
2011-2014 Niina Keitel was a meber of the ensemble at the Finnish National Opera, where she successfully debuted as Judith (Duke Bluebeard’s Castle). Further roles she succeeded in were Sextus (Julius Caesar), Carmen, Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Marina (Boris Godunow), Zara (Reinvere: Purge, world premiere) and Magdalene (Die Meistersinger).
Guest engagements have lead her to Opera Frankfurt, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Daegu International Opera Festival, theaters in Heidelberg and Luzern as well as Münchener Biennale (Joneleit: Piero –Ende der Nacht, world premiere).
As a versatile concert singer Niina Keitel has a wide repertoire and has sung recitals in Tokyo, Nice, and Busseto, Italy, Mozart´s Requiem in Murmansk and Mahler´s Das Lied von der Erde in Colmar (Les Musicales) as well as in Music Festivals in Naantali and Kuhmo.
In addition to her singing career, Niina Keitel is the Artistic Director of Lemi Music Festival in Finland.
